Hampton - Newport News
Visit the Virginia Air & Space Center, official visitor’s center for NASA Langley Research Center, which is located in charming downtown Hampton, the birthplace of America’s space program. The Center features dozens of interactive exhibits, suspended aircraft, the space gallery, a premiere interactive aviation gallery that spans 100 years of flight, more than 30 historic aircraft, unique space flight artifacts and historical displays of Hampton Roads. Enjoy an exciting movie in the 300 seat IMAX Theater and shop for unique gifts in the Museum Shop.
Tour the Mariner’s Museum, one of the largest and most comprehensive maritime history museums in the country. See the world class USS Monitor Exhibit, a $30 million exhibit which includes artifacts, history and accounts of the career of the USS Monitor displayed in a 63,500 square foot space. This exhibit is world class and one of the country's premier Civil War attractions.
Also, visit Fort Monroe and the Casemate Museum.
